Welcome
You Belong Here.
Ok, you are new to Broadus Memorial. Maybe even new to “church.” Maybe you are even new to the whole idea of following Jesus. Well, welcome. You belong here.
We hope you’ll want to come visit with us, but you might have some questions first. So, here’s a few answers for newcomers. If you have other questions, please let us know. We’ll get right back with an answer.
What time and where?
Worship is at 11:00 am on Sunday mornings.
Bible Study small groups (aka Sunday School) meet at 9:45 on Sundays and each group is eager to welcome guests.
Other small groups, ministries and activities meet during the week. Please check the calendar for more information.
Where do I park and enter?
When you come down the drive, you’ll have three parking lots on your left. The lower lot is the first one you come to. The middle lot is next. And the upper lot is in the back. Visitor parking spots are designated on the lower and middle lots. Come in any door. Signs or greeters will point you where you need to go.
What are the people like?
All kinds of people from all over come to Broadus and everyone is welcome. It’s been said that Broadus is one of the warmest fellowships around. We want that to keep being true! Just FYI (because some people ask): there’s no “dress code,” but most adults wear slacks or skirts/ dresses. But, if you really like your blue jeans, hawaiian shirts, or crocs: wear ‘em. We’re more concerned with getting to know you as a person (and a child of God) than what you wear.
What is the pastor like?
Eric Howell has been our pastor since 2002. He and the other staff partner to lead and serve our church. Eric is passionate about helping people come to know and follow Christ in community with one another. He is in the lobby after each service and welcomes the opportunity to meet you in person.
What is a service like? Will I be singled out as a visitor?
Worship services can be described as ‘tradition with a twist”. We sing songs and practice an order of service pretty familiar to many church-goers, but we might mix it up with different instruments, liven it up with a skit or drama, or shake it up with something completely different. It’s all our desire to keep us renewed each week in our worship and journey with God. It’s not really about us after all anyway. It’s about encountering the mystery of the Divine among us. You’ll be handed a printed order of worship that will guide you through the service.
You won’t be singled out as a visitor, but you will be warmly welcomed. Greeters will give you a Welcome Packet. Plus, attached to the worship guide is an information tab you can tear off if you wish, fill out, and drop in the offering plate.

What do you have for my child?
On Sundays, we have Sunday School classes and nurseries at 9:45 am for children of every age. During worship, children through age 3 stay in the nurseries and you’ll get a pager in case the nursery workers need to get you. Ages 4 through first grade stay in the worship service with you until they are dismissed, usually early in the service, to go to “extended session” which is sort of like church for kids.
